Alan Mohammadi, Injured Kurdish Kolbar (Porter) from Marivan, Sentenced to Imprisonment and Heavy Fine

Alan Mohammadi, a kolbar (cross-border porter) from Marivan, has been sentenced to five years in prison and a six billion tomans fine.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Alan Mohammadi—who was severely wounded by direct gunfire from border guards at the Anjiran border—was released from the hospital on eight billion tomans bail and has now been sentenced by the Marivan court to five years in prison and a six-billion-toman fine.

On March 13, 2024, Alan Mohammadi was shot in the lower back by border forces at Anjiran and sustained severe injuries. The damage was so extensive that both of his kidneys were seriously affected. He was immediately airlifted to Kosar Hospital in Sanandaj and underwent surgery the same night.

Alan Mohammadi has now been ordered to report to Marivan prison to serve his sentence. Due to the critical state of his health—requiring two dialysis sessions and multiple physiotherapy treatments each month—enforcement of this sentence will further endanger his well-being.
