Baran Saeedi, Civil Activist, Re-Arrested in Sanandaj

Baran Saeedi, a civil activist and women’s rights advocate, has been re-arrested by security forces in Sanandaj and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Baran Saeedi was arrested at her private residence on Monday, March 10, 2025, by security forces in the city without a judicial warrant. She was accused of attending a Women’s Day gathering and was subsequently taken to an unknown location.

Baran Saeedi, 45, was previously arrested during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement by security forces in Sanandaj. She was released after about two months from the city’s Correction and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Saeedi had previously been summoned and interrogated by the Sanandaj Intelligence Department due to her activism.
