The execution of Mozhgan Azarpisheh and Koosar Baghernejad, convicted of premeditated murder, was carried out in Urmia Central Prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mozhgan Azarpisheh, 31, from Urmia, who had been imprisoned for six years, and Koosar Baghernejad, 24, from Naqadeh, who had been imprisoned for four years, were sentenced to death by the judiciary in separate cases on charges of premeditated murder. Their executions were carried out on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Urmia Central Prison.
Efforts by the families of these two prisoners to obtain the consent from the victims’ families were unsuccessful.
At the time of this report, the execution of these two prisoners has not been announced by domestic media or the judiciary.
