Sharifeh Mohammadi, a political prisoner held in Lakan Prison in Rasht, has once again been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Rasht.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Sharifeh Mohammadi was recently sentenced to death for the second time by Branch Two of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, presided over by Mohammad Ali Darvish Goftar.
Mohammadi’s defense attorneys, Mohammad Reza Nazari-Nejad and Mohammad Reza Sarvari, confirmed the issuance of the new death sentence for their client, who is both a labor activist and a political prisoner.
Previously, Mohammadi was sentenced to death by Branch One of the Rasht Revolutionary Court. However, in October 2024, the Supreme Court overturned the ruling and referred the case to a parallel branch for review.
This labor activist was originally sentenced to death in June 2024 by Branch One of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, presided over by judges Ahmad Darvish Goftar and Mehdi Raskhi, on charges of “rebellion (baghi)” through membership in the Coordination Committee for the Formation of Labor Organizations and its alleged proximity to the Komalah Party.
Sharifeh Mohammadi was violently arrested on December 5, 2023 at her home in Rasht by Intelligence Ministry agents. Over the past 15 months, she has been held in Sanandaj Central Prison, Lakan Prison in Rasht, and Intelligence Ministry detention centers in both cities.
