Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi’s Case was Dismissed

 

The case of Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi, two journalists who were imprisoned for months for covering news related to the death of the late Mahsa Zhina Amini, has been closed, according to their lawyers.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, their lawyers announced that the case of Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi was officially dismissed on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, following the final ruling of the Tehran Court of Appeals.

These journalists, who were accused of “collaborating with a hostile foreign government” for reporting on Mahsa Zhina Amini death while in the custody of the morality police, were acquitted of all charges after months of legal battles.

Elaheh Mohammadi, who was arrested on September 29, 2022, after covering the funeral of the late Mahsa Zhina Amini, spent 17 months in prison before being temporarily released on bail on January 14, 2024.
