Arrest of Soheila Motaei, Women’s and Freedom Activist, Released on Bail in Dehgolan

Soheila Motaei, a women’s rights activist and one of the detainees of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” movement, was arrested by security forces in one of the main squares of Dehgolan, a city in Sanandaj province, and was released on bail after several hours of interrogation.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Soheila Motaei, an activist in the women’s movement, was arrested on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Sa’at Square in Dehgolan with the use of force by security forces.

A source close to Motaei’s family stated, “Security forces arrested Soheila Motaei on suspicion that she was filming in the city, but no evidence was found on her phone. After hours of interrogation, she was temporarily released on a 200 million tomans bail.”

Soheila Motaei, a women’s rights activist, had previously been arrested twice by security agencies during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” movement. She was sentenced by the Dehgolan Revolutionary Court to a total of 60 months in prison. After serving several months of her sentence, she was pardoned and released from prison.
