In connection with the call for strikes and protests against the execution sentences of #Pakhshan_Azizi and #Varisheh_Moradi, two political prisoners, security agencies have been issuing threatening text messages to discourage participation in protest strikes. This coincides with the widespread summoning and arrest of civil activists in Kurdistan on January 21, 2025.
According to a report received by the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Iranian security forces are pressuring merchants and business owners through threats to prevent their participation in the general strikes. These threats likely include summons, fabricated charges, business closures, and judicial punishments. These actions are part of an effort to suppress public protests and halt the spread of strikes scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Earlier, Kurdish parties, political activists, and human rights advocates had called on the public to join the movement and raise their voices in opposition to the unjust execution sentences of these two political prisoners.
