Ajadar Piri, a Kurdish researcher from Urmia and the editor-in-chief of the international journal Research of Nations, has been sentenced to one year of imprisonment and additional penalties.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Ajadar Piri was sentenced by Branch 3 of Karaj Revolutionary Court to one year of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
An informed source reported that, in addition to the one-year prison sentence, Ajadar Piri has been handed a two-year ban from engaging in online activities as part of his supplementary punishment.
On October 21, 2024, intelligence forces raided his home and arrested him.
After 26 days in detention, he was temporarily released from prison on November 15, 2024, on a 200 million tomans bail, pending the completion of legal proceedings.
