Mohammad Hasani was arrested by security forces in Karaj in January 2020. He was later sentenced to prison by the Karaj Revolutionary Court on charges such as “propaganda against the regime” and “membership in opposition groups.”

The 27-year-old political prisoner, a resident of Karaj and originally from Sonqor, has been serving his sentence in Karaj Central Prison for five years.

A master’s student at the time of his arrest in January 2020, Hasani faced charges including “disturbing public order, damaging public property, propaganda against the regime, insulting [Supreme Leader Ali] Khamenei, membership in the Mujahidin-e Khalq Organization, and disrupting national security.” He was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison and exile to Sonqor.
