Reconfirmation of Execution Sentence for Political Prisoner Mojahed Korkor

Mojahed Korkor, a resident of Izeh accused by the Islamic Republic in the case of Kian Pirfalak death, has once again been sentenced to death.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Negar Korkor, the prisoner’s sister, confirmed in an Instagram post that the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court has sentenced her brother to death for the second time.

In April 2023, Mojahed Korkor was sentenced to death on charges of “waging war against God (moharebeh)” and “corruption on earth.” This sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court of Iran. However, about three weeks ago, the Supreme Court overturned the ruling and referred the case back to a parallel court branch for further review.

It has been reported that “Branch 3 of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court, acting as the parallel branch, has again issued a death sentence.”

Abbas Korkor, known as Mojahed Korkor, has been identified by the Islamic Republic’s judiciary as the individual responsible for the shooting in Izeh on November 16, 2022. During the protests that day, seven individuals, including 9-year-old Kian Pirfalak, were killed.

The Pirfalak family has repeatedly denied the allegations against Izeh residents, including Mojahed Korkor, asserting that the shooting was carried out by government forces.
