The execution of Saman Mohammadi was postponed moments after the call to prayer (Azan). He has since been returned to the general ward.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, Saman Mohammadi Khiyareh was transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj in preparation for his execution. However, due to efforts by activists and human rights organizations, the political prisoner’s execution was delayed.
Saman Mohammadi was arrested in 2009 by intelligence agents. He was later sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, on charges of “hostility against God” (Moharebeh) and membership in anti-regime parties allegedly tied to foreign intelligence services.
