Siamak Amini, a political prisoner held in Evin Prison, has been deprived of family visitation for three weeks.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, this punitive measure has been imposed on Amini, preventing him from meeting his family during this time. Reports indicate that this visitation ban has been applied as a disciplinary action against him.
Amini had previously been sentenced by the Revolutionary Court to four years and three months in prison, a sentence later reduced to four years, one month, and seventeen days upon appeal.
Born in 1962 and residing in Tehran, Siamak Amini is one of the political prisoners from the 1980s, having spent time in prison from 1984 to 1989. His charges included “assembly and collusion” and “propaganda against the regime.” Along with his prison sentence, he has been banned from political group memberships and from using a smartphone.
Amini suffers from Behçet’s syndrome and was arrested on August 5, 2024, after reporting to the Enforcement Office of Evin Prison’s Public Prosecutor.
No further details have been released regarding the specific reasons behind this visitation ban.
