The execution of Kambakhsh Mahmoudi, a Kurdish prisoner convicted of “premeditated murder,” was carried out in the central prison of Kermanshah.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mahmoudi’s death sentence was implemented on the morning of Wednesday, September 25, 2024. He was 34 years old and from the town of Biston, sentenced to death for premeditated murder.
A source informed the Iranian Human Rights Organization that Mahmoudi was accused of murder on September 29, 2022. Additionally, Mahmoudi’s brother had been executed several years ago on similar charges.
As of the time of this report, his execution has not been confirmed by internal media or official sources.
The lack of differentiation for premeditated murder in Iran means that any type of killing, regardless of severity or motive, can result in a death sentence.
This situation increases human rights concerns over the imposition of harsh punishments in the country.
