Hamidreza Shirzadi, a 22-year-old resident of the village of Moozarm in Dezpart County, has been sentenced to one year in prison. The verdict was issued by Branch 103 of the Criminal Court of Izeh on charges of blasphemy.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, reports indicate that this sentence was issued in absentia and communicated on July 21. The main reason cited for the charge is the publication of posts on Instagram.
It is worth noting that another part of Mr. Shirzadi’s case, involving charges of propaganda against the regime, disrupting public order, and insulting the leadership, is currently under review by the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz.
Mr. Shirzadi was previously arrested during last year’s nationwide protests and was later released.
