Following a military shooting at a fuel transport vehicle on the Rudbar-e-Jonub road, five people unfortunately lost their lives.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the incident occurred early Saturday, July 13, 2024, claiming the life of a 22-year-old fuel transporter named “Saman Narouei,” as well as a father, mother, and two young children from one family.
Reports indicate that after being fired upon by military forces, the fuel transport vehicle veered off its path and collided with another car. Both vehicles caught fire as a result of the collision, and all passengers were killed.
This tragic incident once again highlights the problem of military shootings at fuel transport vehicles in Sistan and Baluchestan. The lack of job opportunities in this province has forced many people into the high-risk job of fuel transporting. These individuals frequently come under fire from military forces while transporting fuel and lose their lives.
It is important to note that fuel transporting is an illegal job, but due to widespread poverty and unemployment in Sistan and Baluchestan, many people have no choice but to resort to this work for their livelihood.
The death of five people in this incident underscores the urgent need for serious action to resolve the issue of fuel transporting and create job opportunities in Sistan and Baluchestan. Additionally, military forces must refrain from shooting at fuel transport vehicles and handle fuel smugglers through legal means.
