Maryam Mahmoudabadi, Female Activist, Transferred to Sirjan Prison

مریم محمودآبادی

Maryam Mahmoudabadi, 25, one of the detainees from the nationwide protests in 2022, has been transferred to Sirjan Prison on June 5, 2024, after several weeks of solitary confinement in Kerman Prison.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, security agents raided her home in Sirjan and arrested her on May 15, 2024, transferring her to the IRGC intelligence detention center in Kerman.

So far, the reasons for Mahmoudabadi’s arrest and the charges against her remain unknown, and she has been denied access to a lawyer and contact with her family throughout this period.

Her transfer to Sirjan Prison, which local sources describe as lacking basic sanitary and welfare facilities, has raised concerns about her health and detention conditions.

It is noteworthy that Maryam Mahmoudabadi had previously been arrested during the November 2022 protests and was released on bail after some time.
