The police commander of Abbasabad announced the arrest of 30 people on charges of Satanism, possession of alcoholic beverages, and drugs in this city.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, these individuals had traveled to Abbasabad from other provinces as part of a tour group.

The identities and whereabouts of the detainees have not been disclosed by the Abbasabad police commander.

Intrusion into the private lives of citizens and interference in their personal affairs are among the criticisms directed at the Iranian judicial and law enforcement system.

Number of detainees: 30 people (18 men and 12 women)

Charges: Satanism, possession of alcoholic beverages, and drugs

Location of arrest: Abbasabad

Satanism is not considered a crime in Iran, and it is unclear under what law the detainees are being prosecuted.

Some civil activists regard this action as a violation of freedom of expression and belief.
