Crackdown on Online Activists in Kerman Following Raisi’s Helicopter Crash

Kerman Prosecutor Mehdi Bakhshi has reported the monitoring of 550 active websites in cyberspace and the identification of 288 online activists and leaders in the past 24 hours. This action follows the reactions of social media users to the helicopter crash involving Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Bakhshi stated that 254 of these individuals received phone warnings, and 8 others were summoned to judicial authorities for commenting on the incident.

The Kerman prosecutor further warned that individuals who publish any content that is offensive, contrary to moral standards, and against the religious and cultural sentiments of the country, influenced by this incident, will face “firm action.”

This operation was conducted in collaboration with the Sarallah Intelligence Organization.

The helicopter crash involving Ebrahim Raisi occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, May 19, 2024, in the Dizmar forest. In this incident, Raisi and his companions, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, were killed.
