The head of the Cyber Police (FATA) stated: “35 Iranian citizens are being prosecuted for posting offensive content on social media related to the helicopter crash involving President Raisi.”
According to a report from the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the head of the Cyber Police announced that judicial cases have been opened for 35 Iranian citizens following actions taken to cleanse the cyberspace of criminal content related to the helicopter crash carrying Ebrahim Raisi.
He further mentioned that these actions were part of the Cyber Police’s preemptive monitoring plans over the past 36 hours, during which a total of 80 criminal offenses in this context were identified.
Vahid Majid, head of the Cyber Police, stated: Of the identified cases, 35 have resulted in operational actions including warnings, summonses, and referrals to judicial authorities. He also noted that some of these users, after receiving warnings, have removed the criminal content from social media.
It is noteworthy that on the afternoon of Sunday, May 19, 2024, the helicopter carrying Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, and his companions, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, crashed in the Dizmar forests in the Varzeqan and Jolfa regions. On the morning of Monday, May 20, 2024, after the crash site and the wreckage were found, the death of the President and his companions was announced by official media outlets.
