Mohammad Sadeghi, a retired teacher and union activist, was transferred to Arak Prison to serve a one-year sentence for disciplinary imprisonment on April 20th, 2024.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mr. Sadeghi had previously been sentenced to three years and seven months in prison for charges of assembly and collusion, and eight months of disciplinary imprisonment for charges of propaganda against the regime, by Judge Hosseini in Branch 2 of the Arak Revolutionary Court.
This verdict was reduced to one year of disciplinary imprisonment by Judge Mohsen Edelat in the Eighth Branch of the Central Province Revision Court in March 2024.
He had also been arrested in Arak on March 8th, 2023. He was released on bail after a while.
The transfer of Mohammad Sadeghi to prison once again indicates the continuation of the suppression of teacher union activists in Iran.
In recent months, pressure on teacher union activists has increased, and many of them have been detained, summoned, or sentenced to prison.
