Ruhollah Nakhaei, a journalist who had previously been sentenced to two years in prison by the Revolutionary Court, has been transferred to prison to serve his sentence.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on Tuesday 20th, 2024, Ruhollah Nakhaei, the journalist, was transferred to prison to serve his two-year sentence.
Partu Barhanipour, a judicial lawyer, tweeted this news, stating: ” Although Ruhollah Nakhaei was eligible for amnesty under the declaration issued in 2023, his two-year prison sentence was enforced today.
Nakhaei had previously been summoned to serve his prison sentence after receiving a notification.
He was arrested during the nationwide protests of 2023 and was sentenced to two years in prison by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on charges of “gathering and collusion” and to seven months in prison for “propaganda against the regime.”
This verdict was upheld by Branch 36 of the Tehran Province Appeals Court about end of April 2024.
With the application of Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the harshest punishment, namely two years in prison, will be enforced against him.
