According to the Campaign for Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, based on new details, Milad Armon, Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Hosseini, Mehdi Imani, and Navid Najaran will be prosecuted in the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on charges of “armed conflict.”
It should be noted that this case is related to the November 2023 protests in “Ekbatan Town”, Tehran. So far, no precise information has been provided about the timing of the trial and further details of the charges.
Furthermore, the status of other defendants in this case is not yet fully determined. Families of the defendants and civil activists demand a fair and transparent trial for this case.
Payam Derafshan, the judicial attorney, announced: Milad Armon, Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Hosseini, Mehdi Imani, and Navid Najaran, four of the defendants in the case known as “Ekbatan Town” who are currently in prison on charges of “armed conflict” and have not been released, will be prosecuted in the Revolutionary Court of Tehran under the presidency of Judge Salavati.
Mr. Derafshan added that while four other defendants in this case have been released, we have seen the four who have not been released during the trial, and we know the difficult situation they are facing as their friends have been released, yet they remain in prison. Additionally, these individuals who are in Qezel Hesar Prison are witnessing the transfer of prisoners to solitary confinement in this prison every week for the execution of death sentences.
It’s important to note that after four trial sessions, the court didn’t send the cases of all eight defendants to the prosecutor’s office for more investigation. Instead, Branch 13 of the Criminal Court of Tehran took over the case for further inquiry, speeding up the process and deciding the fate of the defendants
Among these eight defendants, Hossein Nemati, Alireza Bermarz Pournak, and Alireza Kafaei were let out on bail on February 7th, 2024. Amir Mohammad Khosh Iqbal was released on February 14th, 2024
