The death sentence of a prisoner named Hossein Habibi, who was sentenced to self-retribution(execution) on the charge of “deliberate murder”, was performed in the Urmia Central Prison (Daria). Earlier, the news of the execution of another prisoner in Urmia prison was published on the same day.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the death sentence of a man was performed in the Urmia Central Prison on Wednesday January 31st, 2024.
This prisoner, whose identity has been confirmed as Hossein Habibi, around 40 years old, was sentenced to self-retribution on the charge of “intentional murder”.
An informed source about the execution of this prisoner told the Iranian Human Rights Organization: “Hossein Habibi was arrested five years ago on charges of intentional murder and sentenced to self-retribution. The defendants in the case demanded 5 billion Tomans, but Habibi’s family failed to provide this money, and finally his sentence was executed.
Earlier, on the same day, the news of the execution of another prisoner was published by the Iranian Human Rights Organization.
The execution of these two prisoners has not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources as of writing this news.
The lack of classification for intentional homicide in Iran makes any type of murder regardless of the severity, weakness and motivation of the accused lead to the issuance of a death sentence.
