The two prisoners named Payam (unknown last name) and Ismail Chih, who were sentenced to death on charges of “intentional murder” and charges related to “narcotic drugs” respectively, were executed in Karaj Central Prison (penitentiary) on Tuesday January 30th, 2024.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners two men were executed in Karaj Central Prison on Tuesday January 30th, 2024.
These two prisoners, whose identities have been confirmed as Payam (unknown last name) and Ismail Chih, were sentenced to self-retribution or execution on charges of “intentional murder” and “narcotic drugs” charges, respectively.
The execution of these two prisoners has not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources as of writing this news.
The number of prisoners who have been executed on charges related to “narcotics” has increased continuously every year for the past three years. Compared to the first six months of 2022, when 91 people were executed on drug-related charges, the year 2023 has seen a 126% increase and 206 executions have been registered with this charge.
