The death sentence of at least one Baloch prisoner named Hasan Gorgij, who was sentenced to death on the charge of “deliberate murder”, was implemented in Zahedan Central Prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the death sentence of at least one Baloch prisoner was performed in Zahedan Central Prison on the morning of Saturday, January 20TH, 2024.
The identity of this executed Baloch prisoner: “Hasan Gorgij”, 23 years old, the son of Hanif, a resident of Zahedan, has been confirmed.
According to informed sources, “Hasan was arrested and sentenced to death in Zabul for murder in 2019, and today his death sentence was performed in Zahedan Central Prison.”
The execution of this prisoner has not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources until the moment of writing this news.
The lack of grading for intentional homicide in Iran makes any type of murder regardless of the severity, weakness and motivation of the accused lead to the issuance of a death sentence.
Retaliatory executions in Iran also face widespread criticism. Many human rights activists believe that revenge execution is a form of vengeance and cannot be considered as a just punishment.
