Armita Pavir, a student activist was sentenced to a total of 22 months and 17 days in prison by the Revolutionary Court of this city. She was expelled from Shahid Madani University of Tabriz, major in cellular and molecular biology.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, in recent days Armita Pavir, a student activist and an expelled student of the cellular and molecular biology department of Shahid Madani University of Azerbaijan, was sentenced to a total of 22 months and 17 days in prison.
According to the verdict sent to Mrs. Pavir, this Azerbaijani student activist was sentenced to 15 months and 1 day for the charge of “insulting the leadership” and 7 months and 16 days for the charge of “propaganda against the regime”.
Earlier, in an audio file Mrs. Pavir announced her hunger strike in protest the lack of processing of the case and the illegal behavior of Tabriz prison officials. The audio was recorded in Tabriz prison, while in contact with her family on Monday, October 27th, 2023.
At the end of this audio file, Ms. Pavir stated that she has no underlying illness or mental disorder, and if any problems occur to her, the responsibility will lie directly with the prison and judicial authorities.
Mrs. Pavir was arrested was arrested due to separate financial charges that were opened during her previous arrest due to the closure of the workplace on September 21st, 2023. She was transferred to Tabriz Central Prison and has been in limbo since her arrest.
Armita Pavir, a former student activist and expelled student from Shahid Madani University of Azerbaijan, was arrested on November 9, 1401 during protests last year by the security forces in front of the door of this university on October 31st, 2022. She was released from Tabriz prison on 250 million tomans bail on January 7th, 2023.
