The death sentence of a prisoner named Masoud Basak, on charges related to “drugs”, was executed in Kashan prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil prisoners, the death sentence of a man was executed in Kashan prison on the morning of Wednesday, November 29th, 2023.
This prisoner, whose identity has been confirmed as 33-year-old Masoud Basak, was sentenced to death on charges related to “drugs”.
An informed source about the execution of this prisoner told the Iranian Human Rights Organization: “Masoud Basak was arrested and sentenced to death about two years ago.”
The execution of this prisoner has not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources as of writing this news.
The execution of prisoners who have been executed on “drug” related charges has increased continuously every year for the past three years. Compared to the first six months of 2022, when 91 people were executed on drug-related charges, this year has seen a 126 percent increase and 206 executions have been registered with this charge.
