Nazila Maroufian, a journalist from Saqez city and a resident of Tehran, who was arrested for the umptieth time by the security forces and assaulted in her personal home on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, says that she was “assaulted” when she was in the worst possible situation.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Nazila Maroufian, a Kurdish journalist who is on hunger strike in Evin prison, revealed in an audio file that was made available to the media about the sexual assault of the security forces during her detention.
In this audio file, Mrs. Maroufian reveals: They assaulted me when I was in the worst possible situation.
She also says that she is on hunger strike not only for herself but also for all the women of Iran who are suffering from the government of the Islamic Republic.
This journalist has been on hunger strike since Friday, September 1st, 2023, in protest against her fourth arrest, which was accompanied by beatings by the security forces.
By publishing a letter, she demanded her freedom and restoration of dignity about this inhumane behavior of the security forces and their punishment.
Mrs. Maroufian was also sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 15 million tomans. This sentence was issued by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Iman Afshari for the charge of “propaganda against the regime”.
