The death sentence of three prisoners named Kiyomars Rezaei, Rahman Ebrahimi and Behrouz Rahmani, who were sentenced to death on charges related to “narcotics”, was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on the morning of Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023, the death sentence of three men was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
The identities of the three prisoners who were sentenced to death on charges related to “narcotics and drugs” have been confirmed: Kiyomars Rezaei, Rahman Ebrahimi and Behrouz Rahmani.
An informed source about the execution of these three prisoners told the Iranian Human Rights Organization: ” Kiyomars Rezaei and Rahman Ebrahimi were both from Kohdasht and were arrested and sentenced to death in a joint case 10 years ago. Behrouz Rahmani was also from Shadabad, Tehran, and was arrested and sentenced to death about two years ago.
The execution of these three prisoners has not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources until the moment of writing this news.
The execution of prisoners who have been executed on “drug” related charges has increased continuously every year for the past three years.
Compared to the first six months of 2022, 91 people were executed on drug-related charges, but this year we have witnessed a 126% increase and 206 executions have been registered with this charge.
