The sentences of two prisoners who were sentenced to death on charges related to “narcotic drugs” were performed in Shiraz central prison (Adel Abad).
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, two men were executed in Shiraz Central Prison on Tuesday morning, August 8th, 2023.
These two prisoners, whose identities have been confirmed as Hossein Nasirian, 40 years old, from Kazeroon, and Hassan Ali Shakib, from Arsanjan.
An informed source about the execution of these two prisoners told the Iranian Human Rights Organization: ” Hossein Nasirian was from Kazeroon and was arrested and sentenced to death three years ago.
Before his arrest, he was a plumber in a factory. Hassan Ali Shakib was also arrested and sentenced to death about two years ago for carrying 85 kilos of drug named Shisheh.
The execution of these two prisoners has not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources until the moment of writing this news.
Along with these two prisoners, another prisoner who was sentenced to self-retribution on the charge of “intentional murder” was transferred to solitary confinement, but she was returned to her ward by obtaining a consent from case plaintiff.
The execution of prisoners who have been executed on “drug” related charges has increased continuously and every year for the past three years. Compared to the first six months of 2022, when 91 people were executed on drug-related charges, this year has witnessed a 126% increase and 206 executions have been registered with this charge.
