Nazila Marufian, a journalist and student of Allameh Tabatabai University and a native of Saqez city, was charged in the second branch of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office. She was previously sentenced to two years in prison and additional punishments for the charges of “propaganda activity against the regime and spreading lies with the intention of disturbing the public mind through the publication of an interview with Mahsa Amini’s father”.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Nazila Marufian, a journalist and student of Allameh Tabatabai University and a native of Saqez, was charged in the second branch of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office. In this new case, which was recently opened by the prosecutor, she has been accused of “propaganda against the system and gathering and collusion”.
Nazila Marufian, a journalist and student of Allameh Tabatabai University, is in the women’s ward of Evin prison, and recently her temporary release was opposed by the prosecutor’s office. The prosecutor told her: “If you are outside, you are dangerous.”
On Saturday, July 8th, 2023, she was arrested after being summoned and referred to the first branch of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office, and then transferred to Evin Prison.
On July 4th, 2023, her house was searched by the security forces and her digital equipment was confiscated.
In January 2023, Nazila Marufian was sentenced to two years in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Iman Afshari for “propaganda activity against the system and publishing lies with the intention of disturbing the public mind through the publication of an interview with Father Mehsa Amini”. She was sentenced to fifteen million tomans fine and a five-year ban on leaving the country. Ms.
Marufian’s prison sentence was suspended for five years.
Mrs. Marufian was arrested by the security forces and was transferred to the detention center of the Ministry of Intelligence known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison on October 30th, 2022.
She was finally transferred to Qarchak prison in Varamin and after some time she was released after posting a bail of 600 million tomans.
