The Supreme Court uphold Jamshid Sharmahd’s death sentence. He was previously sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on the charge of “corruption on earth”.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the spokesperson of the judiciary announced in today’s press conference that the Supreme Court confirmed the Jamshid Sharmahd’s death sentence, a citizen of dual Iranian-German citizenship. Mr. Sharmahd was previously sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Tehran for charges such as “corruption on earth”.
Masoud Setayeshi, the judiciary spokesman, announced the final verdict of Mr. Sharmahd’s case: “According to the latest reports, his sentence was confirmed in the Supreme Court of the country, and legal and executive measures will be taken after the notification to the court.”
The first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh hearings of Mr. Sharmehd’s accusations were held on February 6th, February 20th, March 6th, June 21st, July 12th, July 26th, and August 23rd, 2022 respectively was held the Tehran Revolution branch 15 under the chairmanship of Judge Abolqasem Salavati. His case was heard in both legal and criminal courts.
It should be noted that earlier, the official media quoting a security official, reported the arrest of a member of a political group by the Ministry of Intelligence, without mentioning the identity of this person. The security official called him “Masmatos” and the second member of the group known as “Thunder”.
Then the Ministry of Information of Iran announced the arrest of a citizen named “Jamshid Sharmahd” and claimed that he is one of the main figures of Tander group.
Ghazaleh Sharmahd, the daughter of this dual citizen, while stating that she was unaware of the case process and her father’s whereabouts, said: the lawyer chosen by the family was not allowed access to the case, and her father was in solitary confinement and was forced to sign papers.
Froud Foladvand, the founder of the Kingdom Association, disappeared in 2005 along with two of his companions in Hakkari province of Turkey. After that, Jamshid Sharmahd claimed to have taken over the leadership of a part of this association, although Rosita Mantaghi, the spokesperson of this association, always denied this claim.
Jamshid Sharmahd was born in 1995, a citizen of Iran and has dual German citizenship and residence in America.
