The Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj sentenced Shilan Kurdestani to imprisonment. She was previously tried on charges such as “membership in a group with the intention of disrupting the country’s security”, “membership in the Jivano women’s group” and “propaganda against the regime”.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, during the past few days, Shilan Kurdestani, a translator and civil activist, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after her trial in the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan province, presided over by Judge Saeedi.
According to the decree issued by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, which was announced to Shilan Kurdistan, this civil activist was sentenced to two years and 9 months of imprisonment for the charge “membership in a group with the intention of disrupting the security of the country – membership in the Jivano women’s group” and sentenced to 7 months of imprisonment for the charge of “propaganda activity against the regime”.
It should be noted that Shilan Kurdistan was arrested by the security forces in Sanandaj city, the capital of Kurdistan province, on October 23rd, 2022. She was transferred to the detention center of the Intelligence Department in that city, and after the interrogation and explanation of charges, she was released on bail.
