Hossein Rouintan, a journalist and political activist living in Dashtestan, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Bushehr Court of Appeals. Examples of charges against this journalist are propaganda against the regime, insulting the holy places and Imams, Hazrat Sakineh and Zainab, insulting the founder and insulting the leadership.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners; Bushehr Court of Appeals sentenced Hossein Rouintan, a journalist and political activist living in Dashtestan, to 10 years in prison.
According to this sentence, Mr. Rouintan was sentenced to one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and to five years in prison on charges of ” insulting the holy places and Imams, Hazrat Sakineh and Zainab”, to two years in prison on charges of “insulting the founder and insulting the leadership” and ad to two years in prison and 15 million tomans fined on charges of “spreading lies and disturbing public opinion.” By applying Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, i.e., five years of imprisonment, will be applicable to him.
The citizen was acquitted in the appeals court for the charges of “acting against the national security of the country”, which had previously been sentenced by a court to 10 years in prison.
The court cited the creation of a cyber campaign and the invitation to an illegal gathering as examples of the charges against this citizen.
Mr. Rouintan was arrested by Dashtestan intelligence agents on October 17th, 2017. He was released pending his trail on 200 million Tomans bail on November 16th, 2017.
Hossein Rouintan, son of Mohammad, 59, has a history of arrested and conviction for his activities.
