Security forces in the city of Saqez and Zivieh in the Kurdistan province arrested Salah Sorkhi, a trade union activist. Mr. Sorkhi was arrested by intelligence agents and his house was searched and some of his belonging was confiscated.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Salah Sorkhi, a teacher union activist living in Saqez, was arrested by security forces on Saturday April 30th, 2022.
According to the report, before arresting Salah Sorkhi, security agents raided his home. After searching the house and confiscating some of his personal belongings such as a mobile phone, SIM card, personal identification documents and hard disk, he was arrested.
It should be noted that Salah Sorkhi was summoned to the Saqez security police this morning and after several hours of interrogation, threats and preliminary investigations was released along with several other activists of the Saqez cultural workers’ union.
Despite emphasizing the freedom of assembly in Article 27 of the Constitution, the Iranian government does not allow independent trade unions to hold peaceful protest rallies in a non-security environment. In the event of a rally, the activists are summoned or arrested or for fabricated charges they interrogated and threatened
