The Revolutionary Court of Tabriz issued a verdict sentencing Yousef Salahshour to one year in prison and additional punishment. He had previously been tried on charges such as propaganda against the regime.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, in recent days, Yousef Salahshour, a civil activist, was sentenced by the Third Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Tabriz, headed by Judge Fatahnejad, to one year in prison and additional punishments.
According to the report, he was sentenced to one year in prison, two years banned from leaving the country, and two years banned from operating in cyberspace on charges of “propaganda activities against the regime.”
According to this report, the verdict was orally communicated by the Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Tabriz’s judge to Asghar Mohammadi, the defense lawyer of Yousef Salahshour.
In mid-March, 2022, Yousef Salahshour, was acquittal for the first part of his case, that he is accused of provoking and inciting people to commit violent acts through the telecommunication system in cyberspace and committing riots and controversy that caused chaos in public order, by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeal of East Azerbaijan Province, and his restraining order was removed.
This national and civil activist, in the initial stage, was sentenced to pay 51 million Rials by Branch 111 of the 2nd Criminal Court of Tabriz on the charge of provoking and inciting people to commit violent acts through the telecommunication system in cyberspace and committing riots and controversy that caused chaos in public order. He also was fined 150 million rials in exchange for 6th degree imprisonment and as well as 37 lashes.
On July 25th, 2021, Yousef Salahshour was arrested by the security forces in Tabriz. He was released from Tabriz Central Prison, after being transferred to the detention center of the Intelligence Department of this city, finishing interrogation, getting informed of the charges, and posting bail, on August 4th, 2021.
Yusuf Salahshour, a national and civil activist, is an Azerbaijani dance instructor and has a history of summoning, arresting and interrogation in his civic activities record.
