More than 30 citizens who had participated in the Nowruz ceremony in Sanandaj Children’s Park on Monday March 31st, 2022, were detained by security forces.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the details of the 15 detainees are: Ariana Salimi, 14, Omid Hosseini, 16, Azad Mahmoudian, 17, Batoul Azami, 75, Jamal Asadi, 65, Sohrab Jalali, 60. Fouad Enayati, 35, Keyvan Zand Karimi, Sahand Barzanji, Keyvan Mahmoudi, Arash Shakiba, Khaled Hosseini, Jamshid Ferri, Fardin Peymankar and Kayhan Kakakhani.
The suppression of freedom of expression and opinion violates Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on December 16, 1966, which emphasizes the right of individuals to freely express their political and ideological views and opinions.
It should be noted that the reason for the arrest of Ahmad Rasouli and Sasan Padash, two citizens of Piranshahr, was stated as their presence at the Nowruz ceremony held in the village of Qalat Rash in Piranshahr.
