Asal Mohammadi, a labor activist, was sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court to one year and eight months in prison and additional sentences.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Asal Mohammadi, a labor activist, was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran to one year and eight months in prison and two years band on membership in political and social groups.
According to the report, Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran sentenced Ms. Mohammadi on charges such as “propaganda against the system and society and conspiracy against national security.”.
If the sentence is upheld on appeal process, 1 year imprisonment will be applicable for Ms. Mohammadi.
Iman Soleimani, Asal Mohammadi’s lawyer, said: “She did not have access to a lawyer during her detention. Even though I notified them of me representing her, based on Article 48 of the Code of Criminal Procedure amendment, the prosecutor’s office did not allow me to attend and study the case to defend her. The presence of a lawyer with the accused in the preliminary investigation was deemed necessary and she was interrogated in very unpleasant psychological conditions, as well as in violation of the explicit text of the law, which requires the presence of a lawyer with the defendant in the preliminary investigation. “
Asal Mohammadi’ trail was held in this branch on January 24th, 2022. During the hearing, which was held on charges such as participating in the “White Torture” Campaign and membership in Marxist circles, the judge referred Ms. Mohammadi’s case to investigation office for questioning due to lack of sufficient documentation and consideration of her defense.
Asal Mohammadi last interrogation session was held in the Second Branch of the Evin Court on December 21st, 2021. During this hearing, the case investigator did not allow Ms. Mohammadi’s lawyer to defend herself.
Asal Mohammadi and Hirad Pirbdaghi were beaten and arrested and their house was searched by security forces on November 6th, 2021.
On November 11th, 2021, Asal Mohammadi was transferred to one of the public cells in Ward 209 of Evin Prison, and finally she was released from Evin Prison on bail on November 22nd, 2021.
Hirad Pirbdaghi and Asal Mohammadi, along with eight other civil activists, filed a lawsuit against the detention of defendants in solitary confinement on November 5th, 2021.
