The death sentence of a young woman named Khatoon Hamidi, who was sentenced to retaliation (execution) on charges of “premeditated murder”, was carried out in Qazvin Central Prison. It is possible that this prisoner was under 18 years old at the time of the alleged murder.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, a woman named Khatun Hamidi, about 23 years old and daughter of Abdul Rasool, was executed in Qazvin Central Prison (Choobindar), on the morning of Saturday, February 5th, 2022.
According to the report, the prisoner had previously been sentenced to retaliation for “premeditated murder”.
An informed source about the execution of this prisoner told the Human Rights Organization of Iran: “Ms. Hamidi was arrested about 5 years ago on charges of murdering her fiancé and is being held in prison. She did not like her fiancé, but her addicted father forced her to marry the man who was a rich man.”
The source added: “The woman had only one brother, and her mother was dead and she considered herself alone and with no family. Her brother tried everything to get consent, but the victim’s family did not consent and demanded retribution.”
The exact age of Ms. Hamidi has not been determined at the time of writing, but it is possible that she was under 18 at the time of the murder. The investigation of the Human Rights Organization of Iran in this regard continues.
The execution of this woman has not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources as of this writing.
According to the annual report of the Human Rights Organization of Iran, at least 211 executions out of 267 executions carried out in Iran in 2020 were charged with “premeditated murder.”
Lack of grading for premeditated murder in Iran causes any type of murder, regardless of the severity, weakness and motive of the accused, to result in the death sentence.
