Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani and Mahmoud Ali Naghi, two political prisoners in Evin, were transferred to Greater Tehran Prison, along with four other prisoners protesting the obvious negligence of prison officials.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mahmoud Ali Naghi and Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani were transferred from Evin Prison to the Greater Tehran Prison under the pretext of being transferred to a hospital on Saturday, January 15th, 2022.
According to the report, these political prisoners, along with four other prisoners in Evin Prison, were in strike since Wednesday, January 12th, 2022. They have protested against the obvious negligence of prison officials, the judiciary, and the prisons organization in the death of Baktash Abtin, as well as the failure to address their demands.
It should be noted that Baktash Abtin, who was serving his sentence in Evin Prison, was transferred to Taleghani Hospital in Tehran, due to his poor physical condition and Covid symptoms after several days in the prison medical center on Monday, December 6th, 2021. He was later transferred to the intensive care unit of Taleghani Hospital in Tehran following confirmation of coronary heart disease. Finally, on the evening of Monday, December 13th, 2021, Mr. Abtin’s family and lawyer, after days of trying, managed to get sick leave for him and transferred him to another hospital. This member of the Iranian Writers’ Association dies in the hospital on Saturday, January 8th, 2022.
