The defense lawyer of Leila Hosseinzadeh, a political prisoner, reported that she had been beaten while being transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Center in Ward 209 of Evin Prison and that she was not allowed access to her vital medicines.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Amir Raisian, Leila Hosseinzadeh’s lawyer, wrote in a note on Twitter: “ She called her family on the evening of Saturday, December 18th, 2021, and while sounding very sick, informed them that Detainers had not allowed her to inject vital medicines until this hour. Also, during her detention in Shiraz, as well as her transfer to Tehran, she was battered by officers and is currently being held in Ward 209 of Evin Prison. “
According to the report, this political prisoner was arrested on Tuesday night, December 7th, 2021. She was attacked by about 15 members of the Ministry of Intelligence and beaten while she was staying at a relative’s house in Shiraz.
Raisian, Ms. Hosseinzadeh’s defense attorneys had previously reported that Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals had upheld her client’s five-year prison sentence.
