Nasser Hemmati, a psychiatrist and civil activist, from Abdanan in “Ilam Province”, and resident of Isfahan, after attending the Judgment Enforcement Unit of the Isfahan Prosecutor’s Office, was arrested and transferred to Dastgerd Prison on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners; Nasser Hemmati, a psychiatrist and civil activist, was summoned to the Isfahan Revolutionary Court on Tuesday and was arrested and taken to Dastgerd Prison to serve his sentence on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021.
Civil society activists inside and outside Iran reported that he was summoned to court on Tuesday morning to serve a two-year prison sentence and transferred to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
On the evening of December 24th, 2020, Mr. Hemmati wrote on Twitter requesting people to attend the protests on the next day 25th of December and was arrested a few days later, but was released on bail on the December 30th, 2020.
Dr. Hemmati was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court, Branch 1, on charges of “insulting officials and propaganda against the regime” on May 23rd, 2021.
