Zeynab Jalalian, a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to life imprisonment, who was transferred to Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah in late September 2020, was suddenly transferred to Yazd Prison on Monday, November 9th, 2020.
On Tuesday, November 10th, 2020, this Kurdish political prisoner, during a short telephone call with her family informed then about her transfer to Yazd Prison.
According to the reports, Zeynab Jalalian was transferred without prior notice and with the promise of her transfer to Urmia Prison.
The political prisoner was beaten and threatened by security forces along the way for protesting her transfer.
According to sources close to Zeynab Jalalian’s family, on Monday, November 9th, 2020, the father of this political prisoner received a text message that his daughter’s case had been sent to the First Branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Tribunal of Yazd.
Earlier on Thursday, September 24th, 2020, Zeynab Jalalian was transferred to Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah, while she was in solitary confinement in Kerman Central Prison for about 3 months.
She was transferred to Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah after three months of uncertainty and being held in solitary confinement in Kerman Central Prison.
Zeynab Jalalian, a political prisoner, was transferred from the quarantine ward of Qarchak prison in Varamin to Kerman Central Prison without prior notice while suffering from the Corona virus and on a hunger strike on Thursday, June 25th, 2020.
This Kurdish political prisoner has been indefinitely transferred from one prison to another for more than a year and was deported from the quarantine ward of Qarchak prison in Varamin to Kerman Central Prison on Thursday, June 25th, 2020.
She, while was serving the thirteenth year of her sentence, was transferred from Khoy Prison by security forces to the quarantine ward of Qarchak Prison in Varamin for unknown reasons on April 20th, 2020.
Zeynab Jalalian had been on a hunger strike since June 20th, 2020, demanding to return to Khoy Prison or be transferred to Evin Prison, as well as receiving medical treatment after suffering from coronavirus.
Earlier, Ali Jalalian, the father of Zeynab Jalalian, a political prisoner sentenced to life imprisonment, announced that his daughter had contracted coronavirus in Qarchak prison.
According to Zeynab Jalalian’s father, the political prisoner was transferred to Qarchak Prison Medical Center due to severe shortness of breath on the night of Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020. The Ministry of Intelligence refuses to transfer her to the hospital.
On Saturday, June 6th, 2020, Zeynab Jalalian, in a phone call with her family, said that she still had a high fever and shortness of breath and was being held in a separate room in the quarantine ward of Qarchak prison along with several other prisoners with corona
It is worth mentioning that the medical doctor of Qarchak prison had told Zeynab Jalalian that the virus had infected her lungs and that they were trying to control the lung infection through medicine.
Also, Zeynab Jalalian, was transferred from Khoy Prison by security forces to the quarantine ward of Qarchak Prison in Varamin for unknown reasons on April 20th, 2020.
According to Zeynab Jalalian’s family, she was transferred to Urmia, Kermanshah, and Evin prisons in Tehran on Wednesdays and Thursdays in handcuffs and legs shackles, and was eventually taken to Qarchak prison in Varamin after security forces refused to accept her.
According to human rights sources, the sudden transfer of this political prisoner took place while she was suffering from pterygium and thrush according to the doctor’s certificate.
Her political and social activities have focused on the empowerment of women, belonging to Iran’s Kurdish minority, and the realization of the Kurdish people’s right to self-determination.
Zaynab Jalalian, a Kurdish political prisoner, was born in 1382 in the village of Deim Gheshlagh Maku, from the West Azarbaijan province. In 2008, at the age of 25, she was arrested by the Kermanshah’s intelligence services and was transferred to Sanandaj Prison.
She was finally sentenced to death on December 2008, on charges of “Moharebeh through her membership in the PJAK party” in a short closed-door trial, in secret and without her lawyer present.
According to media reports and information obtained, the sentence issued against this political prisoner was reduced to life imprisonment on November 20th, 2011. So far, no sentence has been communicated to her and despite physical problems such as visual impairment and the risk of loss of vision, she is still incarcerated without a single day temporarily off and suffers from many illnesses.
Zeynab Jalalian was held in solitary confinement for eight months without access to a lawyer.
She said that during this period, intelligence agents tortured her, including flogging her, punching her in the abdomen, banging her head against a wall, and threatening to rape her.
Amnesty International in a statement issued in March 2020, while nothing her sentences unjustly, called for an end to the imprisonment of Zainab Jalalian.
