Nader Mokhtari, one of the protesters detained in November 2019, who had been in a coma for a long time after being beaten with a baton, died in Kahrizak Detention Center on Saturday, September 19th, 2020.

Nader Mokhtari fell into coma after being beaten with batons during the protests, and his family found him in a hospital in city of Rey a month later.
The Kalemeh website reports that the protester regained consciousness before March 2020, but despite the doctors’ opposition, he was transferred to Kahrizak Detention Center (now Soroush 111) by security officers and was hospitalized in a critical condition at the detention center clinic.
He has been in this detention center for the past few months and died on September 19th, 2020.
Nader Mokhtari’s body has not yet been handed over to his family, and his family is under “severe pressure” and “threats,” the Kalemeh report said.
The nationwide protests against the tripling of gasoline prices in Iran began on Friday, November 15th, 2019. The protests were violently suppressed by the security and law enforcement forces. Hundreds were killed and injured and thousands were detained during the protests.
Amnesty International in its report counted more than 300 death tolls during the November 2019 Iran nationwide protests.
