The hearing on the case of Reza Mohammad-Hosseini, a political prisoner, was held by Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Mazloum.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Reza Mohammad-Hosseini, a political prisoner, who is serving a 7 years and 6 months sentence in Ward 4, Corridor 10 of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, was tried on Saturday, September 12, 2020, in a new case on charges of “propaganda activities against the regime” by Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Judge Mazloum, and the verdict will be announced in the coming days.
Reza Mohammad-Hosseini, a political prisoner who was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Court of Appeals, chaired by Judge Zargar, to 16 years in prison in May this year (2020), is currently serving his sentence in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.
Reza Mohammad-Hosseini was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents in May of last year (2019) and sentenced by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Zargar, to 16 years in prison.
This political prisoner, who was transferred from Ward 4 of the Evin Prison in Tehran to a solitary confinement in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj in July 2020 and was denied the right to visit and call his family, was transferred on Friday, September 4, 2020, to Ward 4, Corridor 10 of this prison (Rajai Shahr Prison), after enduring 35 days in solitary confinement.
This political prisoner was transferred from Ward 4, Corridor 10 of Evin Prison in Tehran to solitary confinement in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj on Monday, August 10, 2020, without prior notice.
Earlier, the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, described the latest situation of this political prisoner in a report regarding the condition of Reza Mohammad-Hosseini, after his transfer to Rajai Shahr Prison.
Reza Mohammad-Hosseini was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents in May of last year (2019) and transferred to Ward 2-A in Evin Prison for interrogation and forced confessions.
This political prisoner was transferred from Ward 2-A to quarantine ward after 3 months and then was removed to Ward 4 of Evin Prison after 70 days.
Branch 2 of Evin Security Court accused Mr. Mohammad-Hosseini of “assembly and conspiracy”, “propaganda against the regime”, “insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ruhollah Khomeini”, “insulting the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei”, “disturbing public order” and “disobeying the officers’ orders”.
The first hearing of the case of this political prisoner was held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.
Mr. Mohammad-Hosseini, who had been on a hunger strike since Sunday, December 1, 2019, due to the continuation of his detention and the failure to convert his temporary detention into bail, was transferred to the prison dispensary on the 35th day of his hunger strike.
Reza Mohammad-Hosseini was sentenced to a total of 16 and a half years imprisonment by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Judge Moghiseh.
According to Article 610 of the Islamic Penal Code, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of “assembly and conspiracy against national security”, to 3 years in prison for “insulting the leadership”, to 1 year and a half in prison for “disobeying the orders of officers” and to 5 years in prison on charges of “illegal exiting and entering the country”.
Following a verdict issued by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeals, chaired by Judge Zargar, Reza Mohammad-Hosseini was sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of “assembly and conspiracy with the intention to act against national security”, to 3 years for “insulting the leadership”, to 3 years for “illegal exiting the country”, to 1 year and 6 months for “illegal entering the country” and to 1 year and 6 months for “disobeying the orders of officers”.
Judge Zargar only reduced Mr. Mohammad-Hosseini’s 2-year prison sentence for “illegal enter the country”, to 1 and a half year, and confirmed the rest of his sentences, which .were handed down by a primitive court
While serving his sentence in Ward 4 of Evin Prison, Reza Mohammad-Hosseini was transferred in July this year (2020), to one of the solitary confinements in Security Ward (Ward 11) of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.
This political prisoner is currently serving his 16-year sentence in Ward 4, Corridor 10 of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj among prisoners, which is called “Gohardasht Political Ward”.
