Bakhtiar Rahimi, a labor activist and electrician from Marivan, was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court to two years in prison.
According to the Campaign to Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Bakhtiar Rahimi, a labor activist, was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of “acting against national security” by the Marivan Revolutionary Court.
Bakhtiar Rahimi, a former member of the Coordinating Committee for the Establishment of Trade Unions, was arrested by security forces at his workplace, Marivan Electricity Authority, and transferred to an unknown location on Wednesday, November 27th, 2019. He was temporarily released on 100 million Tomans bail on December 21st, 2019.
Amnesty International, based in London, expressed concern over Mr. Rahimi’s condition at the time of his arrest.
Earlier, this labor activist was arrested in July 2007 due to his labor activities by the agents of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office. He was releases after 11 months on 100 million Tomans bail on June 9th, 2008. It was reported at the time that Mr. Rahimi had spent nine months in solitary confinement at the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center under “severe physical and mental torture” to obtain forced confessions.
