Zeinab Jalalian, a Kurdish political prisoner, is on her 32th of hunger strike. This report describes the latest condition of this political prisoner.
According to the Campaign for Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Kurdish political prisoner Zeinab Jalalian, who had previously been transferred from Qarchak Varamin Prison to Kerman Central Prison, is on her thirty-second day of hunger strike.
Even after the request for medical treatment while suffering from coronavirus and returning to Khoy Prison, this prisoner is still in solitary confinement.
Zeinab Jalalian, a political prisoner sentenced to life in prison, who is in her thirteenth year of her sentence, for unknow reasons, was transferred from Khoy Prison to the quarantine ward of Qarchak Prison in Varamin on Wednesday, April 29th, 2020.
“Zeinab Jalalian” went on a hunger strike on June 20th, 2020, requesting to return to Khoy Prison or transfer to Evin Prison, as well as receiving medical treatment after suffering from coronavirus, but on the sixth day of her hunger strike she was transferred to Kerman Central Prison on June 25th, 2020.
Despite the spread of the Coronavirus in the country’s prisons, judicial officials continued to oppose the medical leave for Zeinab Jalalian, a Kurdish political prisoner.
“Zeinab Jalalian” is the only woman political prisoner sentenced to life imprisonment, suffering from eye and mouth disease and abdominal pain. During the long years of imprisonment, she has been repeatedly denied the right to adequate medical services.
It is noteworthy that after the arrest of “Amirsalar Davoodi”, one of Ms. Jalalian’s lawyers, another lawyer of this political prisoner also resigned from being her lawyer.
Zaynab Jalalian, a Kurdish political prisoner, was born in 1382 in the village of Deim Gheshlagh Maku, from the West Azarbaijan province. On 2008, at the age of 25, she was arrested by the Kermanshah’s intelligence services, and was transferred to Sanandaj Prison. She was finally sentenced to death on December 2008, on charges of “Moharebeh through her membership in the PJAK party” in a short closed-door trial, in secret and without her lawyer presence.
According to the media and information obtained, the sentence was reduced to life imprisonment on November 13th, 2011.
“Zeinab Jalalian”, a Kurdish political prisoner who is spending the thirteenth year of her imprisonment in Khoy prison without leave, was transferred to “Khoy Prison” in December 2014, without prior notice to her family and lawyer.
Before “Zeinab Jalalian” deportation to “Khoy Prison”, she spent 7 years in the “Correctional Center of Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah”, which is 5 km away from the main prison “Dieselabad”.
Amnesty International recently issued a statement, while nothing her sentences unjustly, called for an end to the imprisonment of Zainab Jalalian.
