Shapoor Ehsani Rad, a labor activist, was arrested this morning in the city of Saveh by security forces.
According to the Campaign for Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, security forces arrested Shapoor Ehsani Rad, a member of the board of the Free Union of Workers in Saveh this morning, June 16th, 2020.
Security forces reportedly told relatives of Mr. Ehsani Rad that they are transferring him to Evin Prison.
According to Saleh Nikbakht, Mr. Ehsani Rad’s lawyer, in a conversation with the Free Union of Workers in Iran, “his biggest crime from the point of view of the judiciary was his meeting with some political prisoners and civil society activists, and his phone calls to these people inside and outside the country.” In his original court, with charges; Collude against security and propaganda against the regime, he was sentenced to six years in prison and two years in exile in Nikshahr, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, and numerous social deprivations, including deprivation of access to a mobile phone. Since propaganda inside the country was his main charge, the Deprivation of social rights and deportation were removed from his sentences during the appeals process.”
