Sohaila Hijab, a civil activist and residence of Kermanshah, who had previously was sentenced to 18 years in prison by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, was summoned by intelligence agents on Saturday, May 23rd, 2020. After appealing before the Court of Appeals to pursue her case, the Revolutionary Guard Intelligence forces arrested her with “Physical Violence” and taken her to Qarchak Prison.
Ms. Hijab released an audio file announcing her arrest and transfer to Qarchak Prison in Varamin by IRGC intelligence agents after appearing before Court of Appeals. In the audio file, which was released from Qarchak Prison, Ms. Hijab reported about the threat during her previous interrogations on her physical removal and about her severe beating by security officers and the building a new case for her.
On Wednesday, March 18th, 2020, this civil activist was sentenced to total of 18 years in prison by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Moghiseh, on charges of “propaganda against the regime”, “gathering and collusion”, “disturbing public opinion with intent to riot”, “forming a group for women’s rights”, and a “request for a referendum and a change in the constitution”. The verdict was upheld by the Court of Appeals on Saturday, May 23rd, 2020.
