Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi, a former political prisoner, was sentenced by Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court to six years in prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, “Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi”, a former political prisoner and one of the “Mothers of Laleh Park”, was arrested by the IRGC in Laleh Park on November 12th, 2019. She was released on 300 million Tomans bail from the IRGC’s Ward 2A after 20 days. She was sentenced to six years in prison by Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court.
“Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi”, who had previously been sentenced to two years in prison and two years suspended prison in 2009, after serving her sentence was released in 2013.
In this case, according to Laws 500 and 610, “Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi” has been sentenced to five years in prison for conspiracy and gathering against the security of the Islamic Republic and one year for propaganda against the regime, which according to Law 134, 5 years of imprisonment can be enforced.
It is worth mentioning that this decision was preliminary and the objection to this ruling was presented by the lawyer of “Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi”.
It is worth mentioning that “Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi” is one of the “mothers of Laleh Park” who has played an effective role in the formation and continuation of this group’s activities during the last ten years.
“Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi” on Tuesday, November 12th, 2019, in respond to a call previously published by the Democratic Front of Iran with the slogan “No to Poverty, No to War, No to Dictatorship” in cyberspace and social networks, and after attending the Laleh Park rally, was arrested by security forces and taken to Evin Prison.
On Sunday, December 1st, 2019, Jila Karamzadeh Makoundi, one of the detainees at the Laleh Park rally, was released temporarily from Evin Prison on 300 million Tomans bail.
